Kevin Smith was inspired to work as a filmmaker by Richard Linklater after learning that his movie Slacker was filmed in his hometown, Austin, Texas. He was 21 at the time. Smith has also filmed short movies and contributed to numerous television series. One of his first short movies includes The Flying Car which was released in February 2002. As for his television series, Smith has directed Reaper, three of the episodes for The Flash and The Goldbergs and four episodes for Supergirl.
